How does sand blasting work?

Sandblasting uses a several pieces of equipment including a blast pot, air source, hose and gun. During the process, blasting media is rapidly shot from the pot through the gun and onto the material that needs to be cleaned. The small bits of media hitting the metal at a rapid speed remove any coatings or contaminates leaving the item completely stripped and ready for a finish coat.

What geographical areas do you service?

Horizon operates a few minutes north of Belleville Ontario and services the Bay of Quinte area.

Do you provide sandblasting services to residential or walk in visitors?

Yes, we commonly blast small parts for walk in customers. We can blast almost anything you want to clean up, including furniture, ATV and Racing parts, as well as car parts that are being restored. Please call us at 613-849-5826 before arriving at our shop.

Do you have to coat the parts or will you just blast them?

We are happy to just blast your parts and allow you to coat them yourself.

Can you strip wood with your services?

Striping wood is our specialty! Wood can be stripped but this requires special media choices and equipment. We sandblast without attacking the wood fiber, with granules that do not deform or dislodge wood fiber, therefore it is a gentle pressure without high penetration.

What is Powder Coating?

Powder coating is a method of applying a protective and decorative finish to a wide variety of parts and products. The powder used for this process is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, which is applied with a system that electrostatically charges the powder. The charged particles adhere to the grounded parts. Once heated, the particles fuse to the parts resulting in a smooth continuous coating that is highly durable and resistant to a diminished coating quality as a result of impact, moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light, and other extreme weather conditions.
